Where IS my web site and how do I view it?

Who can view my web site?

How can I make changes to my site?

How do I 'LOG IN' and why should I care? Is logging in the same as viewing my web site?

What do I do if I don't understand and need some help?

Where IS my web site and how do I view it?

Your web site is on a DELL server (a 'server' is a computer specially built to serve web pages and files) in Atlanta – but it could be anywhere really. On the internet, it doesn't really matter where things are physically located. Pretty cool, huh!?

To VIEW your site, use any web browser and type your web site address into the 'address bar' near the top of the browser. Your web site address is something like:

http://www.YourWebSite.com

NOTE: the part that says 'YourWebSite' should be replaced by the name of your site. So if your web site address is www.BrooksPainting.com, then you would enter http://www.BrooksPainting.com

Who can view my web site?

Anyone with internet access all over the world can views your site as long as they know the web address.

How can I make changes to my site?

First you need to LOG IN to make changes to your site. See this item on how to LOG IN.

After you're logged in, you'll see a screen that looks something like this:

Click 'Site Map' from the main WebSite Machine screen.

You'll see a 'tree', your Site Map, that shows you all the pages that are currently in your site. You can add or delete pages at any time. For now, you want to EDIT or change a page. Locate the page you wish to change and click the icon that looks like a little pencil on paper:

You'll be presented with a smaller box that has a button near the bottom that says "Edit Page Contents" – go ahead and click that button:

How do I 'LOG IN' and why should I care? Is logging in the same as viewing my web site?

LOGGING IN is different than VIEWING your site. Anyone can view your site – whereas only you can Log In. You only need to log in when you want to make changes to your site.

To log in:

Use your Internet Explorer web browser (you're probably viewing this page with it right now) and go to this address:

http://www.YourWebSite.com/login/

NOTE: The part that says 'YourWebSite' should be replaced by the name of your site. So if your web site address is www.BrooksPainting.com, then you would enter http://www.BrooksPainting.com/login/

Also - be sure to note the '/login/' part at the end of your web site address. That's important.

You be taken to a web page that says "Website & Email Login". Enter your username and password in the labeled fields - it will look like this:

As long as you've entered them correctly (there will be no spaces in either your username or password. Capitals and lower case don't matter in this case), you'll be logged in and taken to your MAIN WebSite Administration screen. It looks like this:
